BIOMETRICS OVERREACHING IN INDIA
An ambitious plan in India to enhance the biometric information held by the government has been put on hold not because the authentication software is not suitable, but because some people are worried how the database that would include so much personal data would be policed properly. A parliamentary committee decided to stop the project and order a review of it so that the government could get a handle on the right sort of security required for such an endeavor. This national registration program is not the first attempted by India and the first one started in the early 1990s.
