| | | | Winged Heart Hand-Painted Glass Panels - Cathedral Stained Glass | Home » » Angel Praying By William Morris in Stained Glass, Larger Panel | | | | | | | Description: | | This detail is from a window by William Morris in Cattistock, Dorset, which dates from 1882. The praying angel was adapted from an earlier drawing which Morris did for the ceiling of the church in Jesus College Cambridge and she appears with 5 other figures in a window which has been described as 'particularly beautiful with strong, pure, colours'. The inscription on the actual window reads "are they not all/ ministering spirits/sent forth/to minister for them/who shall be/heirs of salvation.
It should be noted that this is a hand-painted panel and has not been fired in the same way as traditional stained glass. The paints used have been chosen to provide the best resistance to fading but constant exposure to strong direct sunlight should be avoided if possible. The manufacturer recommends that they be hung in an east or north-facing window for optimal colour retention. | | | Features: | |
